Planning - Brainstorm and Questionnaire

In today's double lesson, me and my group spent the first hour finishing off our planning for our Thriller.
We did a questionnaire and a brainstorm with planning on, including title ideas, evaluation process and improvements.
The questionnaire we have done is focused towards specific ideas that will halp us build our thriller as to how people want to see it. If we have response, it means we can make the thriller to match peoples interests as much as possible rather than just making it up as we go and then the audience not liking it.
The questionnaire is very much focused towards our target audience of teenagers as they are the people who like thrillers.
This piece of research allows us to work with the answers to create a thriller that is good and that people will like.

The brainstorm planning sheet has all our ideas as to what we are going to call our thriller. We have decided to take the name 'Abandoned' as it fits our location that we filmed in and it fits the way we are filming.
The brainstorm also contains our evaluation of the process and the improvements for the next time.

Both of these planning stages will allow us as a group to look back on what has been said and will allow us to make sure our thriller meets the criteria as to how we and others want it.
It is important that we have planning with different title options as we wanted to make sure we had the right name and not just a name that didn't mean or relate to the thriller much. The title planning was one of the most important stages as the title would portray our thriller in either a good way or a not so good way; we want people to be interested.

Risk Assessment

There are a variety of risks with the area we have chosen to film in.

The first risk is the branches. There are hundreds of sharp branches over the ground and sticking up from the ground. We have to make sure everyone is careful when they are around this area as if someone falls, they could really injure themselves. The risk if getting hurt is around 6/10 as anyone could trip over and if they do, someone could break there arm or wrist or they could just fall and cut themselves. There are different injuries for this hazard.

Another risk is that our actors or actresses could trip over. There are plenty of things that they could trip over due to the filming location being abandoned. They could trip over metal, weeds, branches or stones as these things are all over the abandoned building area. We have to make sure precautions are taken when filming starts and we have to make sure that everyone pays attention to what they are doing to make sure they don't trip over anything that is lying around. The risk is around 5-6/10 as it could lead to serious injuries if it did happen.

The area we have chosen to film in is an abandoned metal framed building. It has no roof on so it is all outdoors. There are hundreds of high and low metal bars situated everywhere so another risk for or actors/actresses is one of them banging their head. We have to make sure everyone pays attention as to where they walk or when they enter the building as they will have to climb in-between two metal bars. As a group, we will have to take charge and make sure everyone is aware of what is around them. The risk is around 3/10 for this as it could hurt if someone bumps there head. I haven't put the risk any higher as unless someone is running on the premises and runs directly into the bars, it would only be a small bump.

These are about all the risks we face with our location as it is set outdoors, in a field, in an abandoned roofless building. As a team, we will have to make sure everyone is aware of any risks around so they know that they will have to be careful around the area and watch around them in case they bum into anything or trip over anything.

There aren't any risks that are incredibly dangerous.

As a team we will be watching everything that is happening and we will watch the actors and actresses we have to make sure they are safe throughout the filming procedure.

Planning - Storyboard

Me, Alex and Beth decided to draw up another storyboard for our thriller as the one we had before, we couldn't use due to us not being able to get into the location we wanted to use.
We also changes the thriller a little bit, so rather than having a small child as we found it difficult to get a smaller child to be in it, we used 4 teenagers. We changes the storyline to 4 teenagers on a day out together when they come across an abandoned metal framed building.
We have similar aspects to this one as we did before, just with different actors/actresses and different location.
The location is still close to school so it will allow us to film during our school hours and use people from school.

This storyboard now relates to what we want to do in our thriller. It may not be exact but that doesn't matter as on the day we come to film, we don't know how things are going to work.

Planning - IT Skills

In today's lesson Me, Beth and Alex went out and took pictures of the location we chose to make our thriller video.
We decided to take pictures so we could then write something about each picture so people would know which areas of the location we are going to use, how we are going to portray the areas etc.

We uploaded the photo's and then we analyses each picture and we said why we were using the area. The pictures will help us as a group realize why it is a good location, why we have chosen it and it will also let anyone else who may want to read about our video know about the area ans see what it is like before we started the filming.
This planning is always a good idea to do so we as a group can use it and anyone else who is interested can use it and read about the project.

Planning for the thriller

In today's lesson, me, Beth and Alex went out to our new location to make sure everything was okay and then we could use it. We also went out there to take pictures of the location and surroundings so we could create a planning sheet with everything on. We took around 10-20 pictures of the location, different objects and features of the place.

After we had done the photo's, we came back to the class and started on another planning sheet. We did a sheet on our filming schedule, actors/actresses, costumes, locations, props and time management.
We wrote everything out so we had a plan on how we were going to do everything. We now know when we are going to film, we know who is going to be in it, we know the location, what props we are using and how we are going to manage our time. This sheet will help the group prepare for the filming and also keep us on track. If we follow our planning we know when we will have the filming finished etc.

Thriller Planning Task - REAL

In today's double lesson, me, Beth Harris and Alex Noble paired up and started planning for our thriller video.
Me, Beth and Alex have decided to work together as we are friends and we know we can produce things to a good standard together.
We sat down and discussed numerous ideas with things flying around. We did this for around 30 minutes.
We all had different ideas of how we wanted out thriller to be; Beth wanted it to be creepy and old and me and Alex wanted to be creepy but mysterious with a small girl in it. We couldn't agree on one specific thing so in the end we ended up putting our ideas together where we came up with something.
We then wrote our idea down and wrote out exactly how we wanted it to be from who is going to be involved, to the setting, costumes, props etc.
We wrote out a full plan of how we are going to do the thriller from how we are going to start it and how we are going to end it. By the end of the double lesson, me, Beth and Alex had our full plan in front of us ready for when we start our filming, however we weren't sure if this idea would go ahead due to the location we wanted to use. We decided to keep this plan then next lesson go and check the place we wanted to use.

This is our storyboard that we all created. It has each scene planned out. We decided to do a storyboard as we know it is a simple and clear way to display our thought-out thriller idea.
The costumes consist of normal day to day clothing as the second half of the thriller takes place as if it is today. The small girl is going to be dressed like a little girl, either a dress or a skirt.

The props include dolls that will look old.

The thriller will be set in an old burnt out building or in an open field with a large, dark looking tree. These settings will give off creepiness and mysterious. We chose these areas as they are both local to us and we can do the filming during school hours.

Lighting will be  natural as we won't have access to lighting due to us filming outside.

Before we start to film our thriller, me, Alex and Beth will have to do risk assessments for those who are in our thriller as the burn out building can have safety issues. We hope to complete filming within a day and then spend time editing our thriller to the best we can. Our credits will be added in on the screen as the thriller is playing. We have decided to do this as we think it is the best way. We want to be able to have our credits appear on screen as the characters are on screen.
